Russia produces first batch of fuel for Bolivia’s nuclear reactor

Moscow, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Russia has produced the first batch of nuclear fuel for the reactor at the Nuclear Technology Research and Development Center (CIDTN) in El Alto, Bolivia, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM reported on Monday.

ROSATOM told Sputnik that the nuclear fuel for the first charge of the BRR-1 research reactor under construction in Bolivia has been produced at its chemical concentrate plant in Novosibirsk and has passed the acceptance inspection.

ROSATOM stated that the fuel will be delivered to Bolivia in 2025.

The CIDTN is currently under construction and will start operating in stages.

This key project develops cooperation between Russia and Latin American countries in the field of high technologies and strengthens ROSATOM’s position on the world market.
