“On the eve of the presidential elections in the United States of America and against the backdrop of a Europe in turmoil, we demand that the next UNGA finally makes good of the universal call for the United States to end the inhumane validity of that siege,” he told Prensa Latina.
Pérez, who acts as coordinator of the Peruvian Chapter of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, pointed out that the UN resolutions calling to halt that meddling policy have been almost unanimous, except for the complicit votes of the United States and Israel.
Next week, the UNGA will once again debate and vote the resolution against the US blockade against Cuba, a statement the world has overwhelmingly supported every year since 1992.
“From Our America, a relevant phrase coined by (Cuban poet and National Hero) Jose Marti, we insist that the sovereignty of the Cuban government and people must be respected,” Perez Grande emphasized.
He also expressed that Cuba “continues offering, from stoicism and dignity, a moving example of resilience and a sense of belonging attached to its admirable history, which has been written by highlighting the best of our human condition”.
