The president’s agenda will run from October 28 to 31 and will include official talks with his host counterpart Xi Jinping, as well as other high-level meetings with top Chinese authorities.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian pointed out that Finland was one of the first Western countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China and described the current bilateral ties as positive.
On the same day of President Stubb’s arrival in Beijing, the 74th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Finland will be commemorated, the spokesman added.
Lin also expressed the wish to continue high-level exchanges with Finland, strengthen traditional friendship and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as trade, investment and green transformation.
He also emphasized the importance of working together to address global challenges, with the aim of achieving a new development in relations between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Finnish presidential office, Stubb will discuss bilateral relations, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war and other security issues.
