ANTEL President Annabela Suburu announced that the telephone company has reached 500 5G sites to optimize Internet connectivity.
“Uruguay is first in 5G connectivity speed in Latin America and ranked among the 20 best globally,” said the official, who detailed that there are more than 700,000 terminals nationwide.
Suburu emphasized that 5G network coverage contributes to “highspeed and lower latency,” in addition to “benefiting the country’s productive and entertainment development.”
5G is the fifth-generation technology that allows multiple wireless devices to be connected simultaneously to ensure access to internet and telephony services with faster connection speeds and latency than previous generations. It uses cell sites that transmit data via radio waves and connect to networks using wireless or wired technology.
