The international affairs committee of the legislature recommended approving the document that Russia and the DPRK signed last June, according to statements by Duma chairman Leonid Slutsky to reporters.
The chairman of the lower house, Vyacheslav Volodin, stressed that the ratification of the new agreement crowns the progress of relations between the two countries.
“In difficult times, the DPRK always supported the position of our country at the level of international organizations, the special military operation, the accession of Crimea to Russia and the decisions regarding the Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions,” Volodin said.
The strategic partnership agreement between Russia and the DPRK sparked a wave of rumors and fake news about the alleged deployment of North Korean soldiers to the conflict zone between Russia and Ukraine.
