In a statement sent to Prensa Latina, the Board of Directors of the solidarity group expressed: “Our unconditional support for our country, the people of Cuba and our government, headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, in these difficult times that our country is experiencing.”
It indicated that the Caribbean nation is currently facing a battle to maintain its electricity generation capacity, after the disconnection of its National Electric System.
Accreven expressed that this situation of the energy crisis that the island has been facing “is due to the cruel and systematic aggression through an economic, ironclad, cruel and illegal blockade imposed by the United States government for more than 60 years.”
He said that this war policy – considered by the Cuban authorities to be genocidal – considerably affects economic development in all spheres of daily life in the country, including the electrical sector, where it hinders the entry of spare parts and pieces.
In addition to fuel and other elements necessary for the continuous maintenance and correct operation of thermoelectric plants, he said.
The text asserted that this whole situation is aggravated by the deterioration of the meteorological conditions, with the arrival in the east of the country of Hurricane Oscar, which affected the territory of eastern Cuba with rain and strong winds, and caused six fatalities and considerable material damage.
“From Accreven,” he said, “we join the effort in the historic battle that our country is waging against North American imperialism, and we join the will of our people and Government to stabilize and resolve the electrical contingency that affects the country,” a product of the aggressions of the United States.
The group, in solidarity with their native land, asked the international community and friendly organizations for “their maximum support and solidarity with our country” and to speak out against the hostile actions of the northern nation.
In this regard, they demanded the “immediate cessation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the infamous and spurious list of countries that sponsor terrorism.”
They also demanded an end to the destabilizing actions, for which they use the internal and external enemies of the Cuban Revolution, organized by the Miami mafia and paid, financed and supported by the United States government.
The Association of Cubans Resident in Venezuela reaffirmed their union with the struggle of the Cuban people, their Government and the Revolution, and reaffirmed their firm commitment to the legacy of Fidel (Castro), as well as to “never renounce the achievements and conquests attained.”
