According to spokesman Lin Jian, the two heads of state will hold an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional affairs.
President Xi arrived in Russia with an agenda that will be extended until October the 24th on the environment of the group’s summit to be held in Kazan.
Also, according to the Foreign Ministry, at the event, the Chinese president will highlight the commitment to cooperation and multilateralism.
“This year marks the start of the ‘Great Cooperation of BRICS’ and will be the first meeting after the expansion of the group, which has attracted international attention,” the spokesman said, adding that since its foundation, the bloc has maintained a spirit of openness and inclusiveness, promoted cooperation and mutual benefit aiming to upholding multilateralism and becoming a positive, stable and constructive force in global affairs.
Lin Jian explained that during the summit, President Xi will discuss with leaders of other BRICS member countries the current international situation, practical collaboration among the BRICS, the development of the mechanism and other issues of common concern.
