Colombia carries new mission to repatriate compatriots from Lebanon

Bogotá, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) The aircraft used in the second humanitarian mission of the Colombian government to bring back more than 100 compatriots residing in Lebanon took off today from the Military Air Transport Command of this capital.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the flight was possible thanks to the Air Force (FAC) and the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense, following the instructions of President Gustavo Petro.

It is estimated that more than 110 people will be repatriated, including children and adolescents, and adults over 60 years of age.

The crew is made up of 13 uniformed personnel who are trained in this type of international missions and there are military doctors with the necessary experience to provide care on board if necessary.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700 with registration FAC-1219, will make stops in the Dominican Republic, Portugal, Cyprus and finally at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, where the Colombians will board.

According to the Colombian ambassador to Lebanon, Edwin Ostos, the aircraft is expected to arrive in the Lebanese capital next Wednesday.

The first flight of this type arrived in Colombia on October 3, with 117 people from Beirut.
