Criminal groups recruit minors in Paraguay

Asuncion, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan security authorities are today on red alert due to the expansion of criminal groups that recruit minors.

According to the newspaper Ultima Hora, criminal organizations are using children and teenagers to sell drugs and even as hired assassins.

This is taking place in the midst of “a violent war” between the Rotela Clan (CR) and the First Capital Command (PCC) for territorial control of micro-trafficking, in which several lives have already been lost, according to the newspaper.

Days ago, the Ministries of the Interior, Justice and Children and Teenagers confirmed the existence of minors’ training by these criminal groups in several localities of the country.

The marks and slogans of these gangs appear in populated neighborhoods, but also in schools.

This is a practice used to show the gangs’ territorial control, reported Última Hora.
