DPRK reports closure of road links with South Korea

Pyongyang, Oct 17 (Prensa Latina) The Central News Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (KCNA) reported on the complete closure of roads and railroads connected with South Korea, it was known today.

In an editorial, the KCNA detailed that in accordance with order no. 00122 of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army took the measure to physically cut off the roads and railways of the stretches connected with south Korea in the eastern and western areas of the border.

These actions are part of the phased work aimed at completely separating the territorial extension under the sovereignty of the DPRK and the territory of the ROK, the text adds.

The Ministry of National Defense (Minden) announced Tuesday the road blockade, which would give way to the action of dynamiting 60-meter stretches of roads and railroads in Kangwon Province and Kaesong City.

This is an inevitable and legitimate measure taken on the basis of the requirement of the DPRK Constitution, which recognizes South Korea as a hostile country, and the grave security environment approaching the threshold of unpredictable war due to the rigorous political-military provocations of the hostile forces, the ministry emphasized.
