Films such as “Lucia” (1968) directed by Humberto Solas, “Meñique” (Tom Little and the Magic Mirror, 2014) by Ernesto Padron, and “Buscando a Casal” (Looking for Casal, 2019) by Jorge Luis Sanchez are among the Cuban films that will be screened until Friday, at the Sala Mayor of the National Cinematheque.
During the exhibition’s opening, on the occasion of Cuban Culture Day, Idania Castillo, co-director of the National Cinematheque, expressed happiness in screening Cuban films here.
Castillo stated that such an exhibition is possible thanks to an agreement inked between the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and the National Cinematheque of Nicaragua to develop both nations’ audiovisual and cinematographic art.
“We firmly believe in the importance of creating links with other nations through the rich and diverse expressions of films,” Idania Castillo expressed while highlighting her country’s cultural policy led by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.
