The office complies with a commitment by minister Juan Fernando Cristo, signed into law a month ago, during a meeting with more than 300 community leaders, local authorities and representatives of the national government in that southwestern area, according to information released here.
At that meeting, priority projects were established for the 24 municipalities that make up the Alto Patia and Norte del Cauca Subregion of the Development Program with a Territorial Approach, which will be fundamental for the economic and social development of the department.
The permanent office in Cauca, the first of its kind outside the capital, is part of the National Government’s commitment to the implementation of the Peace Agreement.
The decision reaffirms the Executive’s approach to consolidate territorial peace, especially in a region historically affected by the armed conflict, according to the information disclosed.
