During the 6th World Media Summit, Prensa Latina Chairman Luis Enrique Gonzalez underscored that the implementing that tool is currently essential to improve communication with different audiences.

“It is crucial to discuss the need and use of AI but it must always be done responsibly and ethically,” Gonzalez indicated.

According to the PL executive, it is essential to prevent this technology from being used to increase disinformation or for manipulation campaigns and media attacks.

Gonzalez emphasized the importance of establishing clear boundaries between right and wrong in using AI.

He also stressed that adopting AI calls for a technological breakthrough that not all countries can access, and in many cases, it is hindered by unilateral coercive measures or blockades, such as the one imposed by the United States on Cuba.

Accordingly, González underscored the need to hold international forums, such as the 6th World Media Summit, as vehicles to achieve integral and genuine cooperation in this area.

He also urged support for nations that are taking their first steps in the use of this technology and called to fill the digital gap with the developed countries.
