The Ethiopian State Minister of Health, Ayele Teshome, stressed the contribution of computerization of the sector and its extension to professionals at all levels to provide better health services.
Teshome revealed that in rural areas of the country they extended digital community benefits to more than 25 million families and are working to update the system with the aim of gaining efficiency.
On behalf of the Health Ministry, he thanked CommCare software founder and CEO Jonathan Jackson and the partners who helped in coordinating the conference and the participants.
Jackson, for his part, mentioned that the technology will enhance international cooperation and make quality healthcare more accessible.
The chief executive of Digital Health at the Health Ministry, Gemechis Melkamu, revealed that the rollout of the CommCare software changed the language and methods in using technology to show better performance of the country.
The Community Health Information System (CHIS) is an integrated, patient-centric, web-based application that assists all stakeholders in healthcare management.
