In mid-September, several unions comprising the Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers and the General Union of Associations decided to unite, declare the state of alert and hold protest actions “with the aim of defending their labor rights”.
Our axis is the defense of the sovereignty of the country that is represented by the national roads, trains, seas, rivers and skies, against the daily attacks from Javier Milei’s Administration, says a statement from the Bureau.
For his part, the leader of Teamsters and co-secretary of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), Pablo Moyano, assured that the strike will be decisive and affirmed that Argentina is going through a very complex moment, due to measures such as the closure of hospitals, the veto of the college funding bill, mass layoffs and the crackdown on retirees.
In addition, he criticized those sectors that are engaging in dialogue with the Government, pointed out that it is necessary to debate the internal situation of the CGT and stated that he hopes that the Automotive Tram Union will join the strike.
