Russia delivers aid to Lebanese displaced people in Syria

Damascus, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Coordination Center, based at the Hemeimim base in the Syrian coastal province of Latakia, delivered aid to Lebanese families displaced by the brutal Israeli bombardment of their country.

The representative of the Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Klyukin Pavel Olegovich, explained that several food baskets were delivered to more than half a hundred families housed in the hotel of the Club of Officers of the Syrian Army, in the city of Latakia.

We will continue to help these people who are going through difficult circumstances as a result of the Israeli war, the officer said.

Several Lebanese citizens expressed their gratitude to Russia for the assistance provided and highlighted the warm welcome and facilities offered by the Syrian authorities.

The number of displaced persons who entered Syria after being forced to leave their homes due to Israeli aggression against Lebanon exceeded 310,000, according to recent figures announced by the country’s Department of Immigration and Passport.

The above figure does not include Lebanese and Syrians who entered through illegal crossings and were received by the inhabitants of the border towns.

Over the past few days, two planes loaded with Iranian humanitarian aid for displaced Lebanese landed at the Russian airbase at Hemeimem, where the Syrian authorities, in cooperation with Russian forces, monitored the unloading and transfer of the aid.
