On October 1, this nation celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On the occasion of the National Day, President Xi Jinping assured that the Communist Party has united all the country’s ethnic groups to achieve two major milestones: rapid economic development and long-term social stability.
The date also marked the Golden Week holiday, a Government initiative to extend public holidays, expand the domestic tourism market, and give people more time to visit distant family members.
Starting October 1, Chinese citizens enjoyed a seven-day holiday, and authorities expect as many as 194 million people to travel during the period.
This week, China described the European Union (EU)’s decision to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles as unfair and unreasonable.
Beijing stressed that the EU’s actions seriously violate World Trade Organization (WTO) rules by disrupting the regular order of international trade.
It also warned that these protectionist measures hinder trade and investment cooperation between China and Europe, and also delay progress in the transition to a green economy. China’s rejection of the recent escalation in the Middle East conflict and Israel’s aggression also grabbed this week’s headlines.
