“We have warned them from continuing the escalation. They cannot everlastingly maintain this geopolitical game in which they have been engaged for a long time and which has, in fact, provoked an open conflict and a crisis in the field of security in the Euro-Atlantic space. In vain, they think that their endless attempts to test our resistance will not lead to drastic countermeasures. Much more drastic than those being taken now,” Ryabkov said in an interview with the Sputnik agency.

Answering the question: whether Russia is ready for a long political and military antagonism with the United States, the diplomat responded: “Without any doubt. Comprehensively, in all areas.” Whether it is a geopolitical or armed confrontation “it will depend on the Americans,” the Russian Minister said.

Ryabkov assumed that in the foreseeable future, Washington will not give up its efforts to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow, adding that this is all the more reason to mobilize to the maximum and be ready to show everyone that it is really facing a serious adversary.

“We are doing it effectively and our interests in this situation are development, social peace, and the construction of a fortified wall, behind which we can develop without fear of the hostile invectives of the United States and its partners,” the Deputy Minister declared.
