The information was clarified by communicators from the Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday in official WhatsApp groups, where the letter was shared with the label “false.”
Unitel also deplored that this hoax was published by a fake account that fraudulently uses the font of that Bolivian chain with the user unitel.beni.bo on the social network Tik Tok.
In the video that promotes this falsification, it is indicated that Lanchipa covered up for former President Evo Morales in the face of accusations of the crime of human trafficking and smuggling.
Lanchipa, for his part, clarified this Thursday in a press conference about this situation and regarding the dismissal of the former departmental prosecutor of Tarija Sandra Gutiérrez.
“During the processing of the case, the undersigned Attorney General of the State, at no time gave any instruction to stop the indicated process,” he said to the press in Sucre, department of Chuquisaca.
On Wednesday night, an arrest warrant was issued against Morales, but at the same time it was learned that a freedom action filed by the former president’s lawyers managed to stop that summons, and he clarified that this decision does not respond to an instruction from the Public Ministry.
“(It is) due to a determination by a judge of constitutional guarantees in the processing of a freedom action -clarified Lanchipa- in which she ordered the nullity of the same, noting the violation of the fundamental rights of the parties.”
The authority attributed the decision to “different procedural inconsistencies in the processing of the case” and to negligent conduct by the former prosecutor. According to Lanchipa, Gutiérrez “had the inexcusable obligation to supervise the investigations carried out by the prosecutors in charge (…)”.
In this regard, he insisted that this and other matters related to problems with his professional suitability were the main reasons for determining his removal from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and not for the issuance of the aforementioned arrest warrant.
