From that moment on, a Party with bodies, entities, and grass-roots organizations throughout the country and armed institutions were structured.
The historic leader Fidel Castro stated that the Party’s foundation was one of the most transcendental steps in Cuba’s history. It closely united the revolutionary people and achieved the highest degree of unity and organization around the political concepts of the transformation process that emerged in Cuba in 1959.
At the founding ceremony held in the former Chaplin Theater, currently Karl Marx Theater on October 3, 1965, Fidel Castro read the farewell letter that Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara left before leaving Cuba to continue his anti-imperialist work in other nations.
“There is an absence in our Central Committee of someone who possesses all the merits and virtues necessary to belong to it in the highest degree and yet he is not among the members of our Central Committee,” he said.
During his speech, he also announced the merger of Revolucion and Hoy newspapers into a single official publication of the PCC, known as Granma, in homage to the yacht that brought the architects of the Revolution to Cuba from Mexico in 1956. The first issue of Granma newspaper was printed on October 4, the circulation of which reached 498,784 copies.

Rememoran en Cuba creación del Comité Central de Partido Comunista
La Habana, 3 oct (Prensa Latina) Los cubanos rememoran hoy la creación hace 59 años del primer Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba (PCC), hecho que consolidó la unidad ideológica y organizativa de la agrupación de vanguardia de la Revolución.
A partir de ese momento se estructuró un Partido que dispone de órganos, organismos y organizaciones de base en toda la nación y en las instituciones armadas.
Su fundación, señaló el líder histórico Fidel Castro, significó uno de los pasos más trascendentales de la historia de Cuba, que unió estrechamente al pueblo revolucionario y logró el más alto grado de unidad y organización en torno a las concepciones políticas del proceso de transformaciones, iniciado en 1959 en la isla.
En el acto constitutivo, realizado el 3 de octubre de 1965, en el entonces teatro capitalino Chaplin, hoy Karl Marx, Fidel Castro dio a conocer la carta de despedida del guerrillero argentino cubano Ernesto Che Guevara, quien había marchado de Cuba para continuar su accionar antiimperialista en otras naciones.
“Hay una ausencia en nuestro Comité Central de quien posee todos los méritos y todas las virtudes necesarias en el grado más alto para pertenecer a él y que, sin embargo, no figura entre los miembros de nuestro Comité Central”, expresó.
Durante su intervención, además, informó sobre la fusión de los periódicos Revolución y Hoy en un solo órgano oficial del PCC, bajo el nombre de Granma, en homenaje al yate que en 1956 trajo a Cuba a los artífices de la Revolución.
El 4 de octubre salió impreso el primer número de este diario, cuya tirada llegó a 498 mil 784 ejemplares.
El Partido Comunista de Cuba es la organización que constituye la fuerza política dirigente superior de la Sociedad y el Estado en la nación caribeña.
