As report in an official statement, the FAB’s KC-30 aircraft “will take off from the Galeão airbase in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, October 2, for Beirut airport, with stops in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.”

Of 21,000 Brazilian residents in Lebanon, some 3,000 have so far asked to be repatriated following the escalation of the Israeli military onslaught, official sources informed.

In addition to the aircraft’s operational crew, medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and psychologists, will be on board to provide support during the mission, known as Raízes do Cedro (Roots of the Cedar).

Last week, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon claimed the lives of two Brazilian teenagers.

Lebanon’s interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati reportedly called on the United Nations and several donor countries on Tuesday to sustain support to protect the people under the Israeli aggression.
