Diaz-Canel bids farewell to To Lam as he winds up visit to Cuba

Havana, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, bid farewell on Friday to his Vietnamese counterpart, To Lam, who had been on an official visit to Cuba since Wednesday, during which both sides signed important bilateral agreements.

At the capital’s Jose Marti International Airport, Diaz-Canel embraced and wished a good trip back to his nation to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and his entourage, the Cuban Presidency website referred on X.

The two sides had signed seven agreements related to inter-party ties, public health, rice production and banking, in addition to highlighting their historic ties of friendship based on history and mutual affection.

They further inked a joint statement that reinforces mutual sisterhood, rejects the U.S. blockade against Cuba and demands this country’s exclusion from the unjust U.S. State Sponsoring Terrorism list.

On the time, Cuba and Vietnam reviewed the progress of joint businesses in the Mariel Special Development Zone, and agreed on the delivery of a donation from Vietnam to the Cuban people, consisting of 10,000 tons of rice. Before leaving Cuba, To Lam held a fraternal meeting with the leader of the Revolution, Raul Castro, in which they underscored the excellent state of relations between both peoples, parties and Governments.

In the dialogue with Vietnam’s top leader, Raul Castro stressed the importance of that nation’s effective participation in Cuba’s National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.

During his stay, the Vietnamese leader also held meetings with the Speaker of the National Assembly of People’s Power -Parliament, Esteban Lazo, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, among other official activities.
