According to a note released in this capital, both parties referred to the historic ties of friendship and the excellent state of relations between both peoples, parties and governments, while ratifying the common will to strengthen them.
During talks, Raul Castro stressed the importance of Vietnam’s effective participation in Cuba’s National Plan for Economic and Social Development until 2030.
On the Vietnamese side, the meeting was attended by Politburo member and First Vice Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, head of the Foreign Relations Commission, Le Hoai Trung; and Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Le Hoai Trung.
On the other hand, Cuba was represented by Politburo members, Minister of the Armed Forces, Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, and Minister of the Interior, Major General Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, as well as by the interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver.
