Speaking at a Solidarity Meeting held in this capital, the Cuban head of state stressed that the visits of Vietnamese leaders to the island renew the motivation to continue together on the road to the construction of Socialism.
“No matter how strong the winds blow, or precisely because of that, our relations have known how to cultivate and enrich the beautiful legacy of friendship and solidarity of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, maximum leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raul Castro Ruz and Comrade Ho Chi Minh”, he stressed.
In this sense, he referred to the importance of transmitting that legacy and history to young people, ‘so that they can reproduce it, consolidate it, nurture it and make it persist in time from generation to generation’.
Diaz-Canel conveyed heartfelt condolences and the greatest solidarity of the Cuban people, the Communist Party and the Cuban government to the Asian nation in the face of the heavy damages caused by Typhoon Yagi.
During the event, Vietnamese President To Lam presented the Cuban Communist Youth Union (UJC) with the Order of Friendship for its active contribution to the consolidation and construction of socialist ties.
After receiving the decoration, the first secretary of the UJC, Meyvis Estevez, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Cuban youth and ratified the commitment to maintain and deepen the brotherhood between the two nations.
