In statements to Prensa Latina, the head of the commercial area of the SMC in Granma, Giselle Clavería, explained that for approximately a year they have been venturing into wellness and quality of life services in the eastern province, one of the venues of Turnat 2024 that will carry out its activities until September 30.
When referring to these services, the doctor by profession also specified that these are not provided to sick patients, but to healthy people who decide to improve their health.
Psychologists, nutritionists, physical therapists and psychiatrists are part of the group of trained professionals, and also have language skills that allow them to interact with clients, he listed.
Many of the guests in the hotel chains, he continued, visit the region to go hiking and take trips to La Plata, for which SMC has specific programs that allow them to improve their quality of life after these exercises, he assured.
It is about “inserting wellness services with nature tourism or with other forms of conventional tourism,” he stressed.
He exemplified that among the most requested offers by clients who do intense activities such as hiking, are products for tired backs and legs and those for a healthy spine.
But they also offer other variants to the elderly such as a health and stress program, in addition, beauty products with facial masks to improve the condition of the skin, and anti-aging treatments with platelet-enriched plasma, with very good results.
One of the new proposals in preparation is the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis with acupuncture, that is, with traditional methods.
According to Clavería, the inclusion of wellness and quality of life services has obtained a high demand, especially after the incorporation in beach hotels, such as the Marea del Portillo, and the requests for podiatry and specialized massages stand out.
People who want to improve their health, and require a wellness specialized in treatments with acupressure, therapeutic massages or lymphatic drainage.
The intention, he said, is not to compete with hotel spas but to complement the wellness service, hence its presence in hotel offices in city and beach hotels. For example, in the María del Portillo hotel complex but also in the city of Bayamo we are present in the Royalton hotel and in the Sierra Maestra hotel.
Turnat 2024 is being held simultaneously in the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo and includes six routes dedicated to farm tours, hiking, photo safaris, nautical activities, accessible tourism and well-being, and walks.
The program includes tours to 36 communities, 85 destinations (33 in Guantánamo, 32 in Santiago de Cuba and 20 in Granma), an ambitious plan that is carried out in seven groups of no more than 20 people each to ensure environmental protection.
To date, 130 specialists, tour operators and travel agents along with journalists from the sector from more than 20 nations will attend the event, especially from Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, China and the Netherlands.
