The deputy chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army made the call at the opening of the Asean Senior Defense Officers’s Meeting (Adsom), preparatory to the ministerial meeting to be held on November 26-29 in the capital.

This meeting is convened at a time when the region and the world are addressing complex and unpredictable security challenges, said the senior officer, adding that at this juncture, we must continue to strengthen cooperation to improve our capabilities to respond to these challenges.

Referring to the upcoming 18th Asean Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), Mittaphone noted that the purpose of the gathering is to promote mutual trust and confidence through greater understanding of defense and security challenges. He added that it will also enhance transparency and openness, and promote regional peace and stability through dialogue and cooperation in these areas.
