With the screening of fiction, drama, fantasy, animated feature, and a group of short films, the 23 y 12 movie theater and the House of the International New Latin American Film Festival (FINCL) will host the exhibition until September 29.
The cycle will open with the film Father of the Milky Way Railroad, 2023, by director Izuru Narushima, which tells the life story of poet and novelist Kenji Miyazawa (1896-1933), one of Japan’s most widely read and beloved authors of children’s stories, according to the festival’s catalog.
The film deals with the writer’s brief but surprising existence through his relationship with his father, a successful moneylender.
Another film on the roster is “Tsugaru Lacquer Girl, 2023”), in which a family’s traditional lacquered kitchen utensils fall into decadence and the head of the family, despite not having financial freedom, is determined to maintain the legacy.
Other films are “Under Open Sky”, 2023 and “Princess Earring.”
