The Foreign Ministry called the decision an injustice to the Afghan people and highlighted the need to hand over Afghanistan’s seat at the UN to the Islamic Emirate (Taliban government).
Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said: “Our position regarding Afghanistan’s seat at the UN, which is not being given to the representatives of the Afghan people, is that it constitutes an injustice and a violation of the rights of Afghans”.
The spokesperson pointed out that if the United Nations handed over that seat to the true representatives of Afghanistan, they could responsibly carry out their work and defend the rights of Afghans.
The situation in Afghanistan and other countries is said to be among the topics of discussion at the 79th session of the UNGA. The session began on Monday, September 23, and is scheduled to last for seven days.
