Burkina Faso unveils anti-Government conspiracy plans

Ouagadougou, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Burkina Faso's Security Minister Mahamadou Sana revealed that the country's authorities have foiled several destabilization plots supported from abroad, local media reported in this capital on Tuesday.

The military junta ruling Burkina Faso affirmed on national television that among the perpetrators of those conspiratorial actions was Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who was overthrown by the current authorities on September 30, 2022.

They also charged against the Western powers’ intelligence services, accusing them of promoting actions in cahoots with local political activists, as well as with active and retired personnel residing outside the nation, with an aim to stage propaganda campaigns and destabilizing operations.

Sana underscored that thanks to the constant monitoring of such activities, they could thwart conspiracies, which he described as harmful and incessant.

Citing destabilizing actions, the officer mentioned the armed attack on August 24 in northern Barsalogho village, where more than 200 people were killed. It was attributed to the group Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda-aligned faction active in the Sahel.
