International Nature Tourism Event, TURNAT 2024, has opened today at the Marea del Portillo Hotel in this eastern Cuban province of Granma.
The main organizer is the ECOTUR travel agency, attached to the Cuban Tourism Ministry (MINTUR).
More than 100 tour operators, travel agents, and specialized
journalists from 20 countries, including Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, China, and the Netherlands, along with the hosts, are attending the event.
Scheduled from September 24 to 29, it is an essential meeting on nature, adventure, and rural tourism, especially for professionals in the travel sector.
Many tourist entities working with Cuba are participating in the event, which is held every two years in a different natural setting, to show participants the country’s advantages in this regard.
This edition is dedicated to the southeast Cuban provinces of Granma, Guantanamo, and Santiago de Cuba and brings innovations in terms of organization, with seven groups of no more than 20 people each, to ensure environmental protection.
ECOTUR director Raul Naranjo and the travel agency’s commercial manager Francisco Longino explained the details of the program.
It includes 36 communities, 85 destinations (33 in Guantanamo, 32 in Santiago de Cuba, and 20 in Granma), and an ambitious plan of meetings.
As in previous events, the first day will include lectures and explanations after which the participants will organize themselves in groups to tour the territory and see the region’s natural attractions.
