The member of the Presidential Transitional Council, Leslie Voltaire met with the Indian ambassador here, Ramu Abbagani, with whom he discussed the strengthening in this area.
They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in key areas such as mitigating the impacts of climate change, preparedness for natural hazards and disasters, harnessing solar potential, training in artificial intelligence and public health.
Last week, the interim director general of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Rameau Normil, confirmed that France will form specialized units and guarantee equipment to strengthen the fight against gangs.
Normil met with the French ambassador to Haiti, Antoine Michon, at the HNP headquarters, where they discussed the strengthening of the institution’s operational capacity.
Earlier, the Minister of Defense, Jean Marc Berthier met with the Canadian Ambassador to Haiti, André François, to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in this area.
The meeting took place days after it was announced that the HNP will receive training in specialized centers in Brazil, in order to raise the level of agents in the fight against gangs.
