The document, focused on addressing the challenges of the 21st century, was approved without voting, despite several amendments that were explained just before the forum, consisting of 193 member states, gave the go-ahead.

The Pact was approved on the first day of the Summit of the Future, a two-day event that brings together more than 100 world leaders to discuss pressing issues, including climate change, financial system reform, and peace and security.

The adopted declaration seeks to commit world leaders to 60 actions in five areas: sustainable development and financing; peace and security; science, technology, and innovation; youth and future generations; and transforming global governance.

It includes essential aspects for the world’s balance, such as the UN Security Council’s reshuffling or the need to expand financing for development.
