The Cuban Council of State vice president, escorted by her delegation and Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendia, laid a wreath at the foot on Fidel’s statue, which was inaugurated on November 22, 2022.
The three-meter-high sculpture, unveiled by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, represents the late Cuban leader as an upright and defiant figure in military fatigues, as a tribute from Russian architect Andrey Beliy and sculptor Alexey Chebanenko.
Ana Maria Mari Machado is in Moscow after leading the Cuban delegation at the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum held in St. Petersburg on September 18-20.
