The diplomat intervened in the context of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum held in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg and insisted on the need to prevent the conflict from materializing at all costs.

“We are convinced that a large-scale military operation in Lebanon would have the most devastating consequences for the security of the entire Middle East,” Zakharova said. “Such a catastrophic scenario is unacceptable. We once again urge the parties to act with maximum restraint and cease hostilities. We are preparing for close interaction with our partners in order to reduce tensions and stabilize the political-military situation,” she added.

Maria Zakharova also expressed that Russia is deeply concerned about the events in Lebanon after several days of unprecedented terrorist cyberattacks and Israeli airstrikes.
