The US actions constitute “a serious violation of the One China principle and the three joint communications between China and the United States, serious interference in China’s internal affairs, and serious harm to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement says.
The companies sanctioned by Beijing are Sierra Nevada Corporation, Stick Rudder Enterprises LLC, Cubic Corporation, S3 AeroDefense, TCOM Limited Partnership, TextOre, Planate Management Group, ACT1 Federal and Exovera.
As enacted, China will freeze the personal property, real estate and other types of assets of these companies on Chinese soil. In addition, organizations and individuals within Chinese territory are prohibited from carrying out any type of transaction, cooperation or other activities related to these companies.
Beijing proceeds to apply these measures in accordance with articles 3, 4, 6, 9 and 15 of the Foreign Sanctions Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Foreign Ministry stated.
Last July, China announced countermeasures against six companies in the United States military sector and five senior executives linked to the sale of weapons to Taiwan.
Despite the growing ties and high-level talks between the two countries, the issue still generates tensions in bilateral relations and Beijing has stated on several occasions that this is the red line that should not be crossed.
