Russia explains restrictions on export of strategic minerals

Moscow, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) A possible restriction on the export of Russian strategic raw materials (uranium, titanium, nickel) will be a forced response to actions undertaken by the West, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov.

The spokesman commented this Monday to Pavel Zarubin, a journalist for the VGTRK channel, that Russia must respond to not only hostile, but also criminal actions against it.

Peskov emphasized that Russia will not do anything to harm itself, adding that President Vladimir Putin previously spoke about it.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Sunday that supplies of uranium, titanium and nickel to the United States may be restricted, but that Moscow will carefully weigh the possible consequences of such measures.

Putin previously ordered Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to consider limiting the export of such minerals and other strategic goods.
