Venezuela thanks Cuban president for his rejection of U.S. measures

Caracas, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan authorities expressed their deep gratitude to the president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, for his firm rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States on the South American nation.

On behalf of President Nicolas Maduro, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil expressed in a message through Telegram his gratitude also for his call for the elimination of these illegal sanctions.

Through the social network X, Diaz-Canel rejected the day before the imposition of these actions and demanded their total lifting.

The ruler warned that ‘imperialism tries to impose itself on the sovereignty of other countries, but Bolivar’s Homeland will triumph’.

Gil denounced this Thursday that the sanctions are a new aggression by Washington and another evidence of its total disregard for international law and the self-determination of the peoples.

According to him, with this ‘rude act’ the White House ‘seeks to ingratiate itself with a political class that has resorted to fascist and violent practices to overthrow, without success, the Bolivarian democracy’.

Caracas thus responded to the decision of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department to sanction 16 officials, under the argument that they are ‘aligned with Maduro’, and allegedly obstructed the electoral process of July 28, in which the president was the winner.

The list includes leaders of the National Electoral Council, the Supreme Court of Justice, Army officers, intelligence officers and members of the Government.
