The potential for security cooperation between the BRICS countries is far from exhausted, Shoigu said at the meeting of representatives of the member states in the city of Saint Petersburg, the Sputnik agency reported.
Shoigu emphasized that the “erosion of the international security system constitutes a threat to sovereign nations,” and stated that the cooperation of the BRICS with the countries of the Global South is more important than ever.
“We consider that a crucial element of our work is the strengthening of cooperation with all countries of the Global South. I am convinced that in the current conditions in the global arena that collaboration is more necessary than ever before,” he said.
“Thanks to collective efforts, our alliance will be an important tool to ensure the balance of interests, the strengthening of peace, stability and mutual trust,” Shoigu said.
