Ethiopia and EU addressed issues of common and regional interest

Addis Ababa, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) The Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taye Atske-Selassie, spoke with the special representative of the European Union for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, on issues of common and regional interest, Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.

Selassie and Weber addressed cooperation between the EU and stakeholders to ensure sustainable peace and economic integration in the region.

The functionaries also exchanged views on the commitment of the EU to Addis Ababa and on important issues such as the withdrawal of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the responsibility of maintaining progress in the fight against terrorism in the region and internationally.

During a similar meeting last July, the efforts of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to solve the conflict in Sudan were mentioned, as well as the need to support the resolution. The participants emphasized the necessity of supporting the resolution and the importance of working together to ensure peace in Khartoum within the African environment.

The current situation in Somalia, issues relating to the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea were other topics discussed.
