China and Africa topics feed Ethiopian newscasts of the week

Addis Ababa, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's visit to China and his participation in Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, FOCAC 2024, and in the African Urban Forum, with the latter held in this capital for the first time, became media milestones over the week in Ethiopia.

Ahmed paid an official visit to Beijing from September 4 to 6, heading a high-level delegation to strengthen the “All-Weather Strategic Partnership” with China.

The African head of Government announced on his X platform that he held talks with his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang, to explore concrete ways to deepen this strategic partnership.

He stated that the signing of 17 memoranda of understanding he and Li presided over was a significant testimony of the high-level relationship between the two countries.

The FOCAC 2024 Summit brought together more than 50 African leaders in Beijing to discuss with China the future of the continent’s modernization.

Another climatic moment was the Ethiopia-China High-Level Business Forum, held on Wednesday, September 4, during which Foreign Minister Taye Atse Selassie stressed that the recent macroeconomic reforms implemented in his country have opened new and promising opportunities for investors.

To improve the adaptation of cities to climate change, disasters, and conflicts, the African Urban Resilience Program was launched during the African Urban Forum held from September 4 to 6.

The Forum was held at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum under the theme “Sustainable Urbanization for Africa’s Transformation.”

Attending the event were representatives from 47 countries, mayors of the continent’s cities, religious leaders, academicians, and others.
