Vietnamese journalists wind up visit to Cuba

Havana, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) With a tour of Havana-based Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), Old Havana and the National Capitol, seat of the local Parliament, a delegation of Vietnamese journalists wound up their Cuban sojourn, the Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) reported.

The 15-strong delegation of Viet Nam’s Journalists Association (VPA), headed by its vice president Tran Troug Dung, arrived at Havana’s international airport last Monday and soon engaged in a series of activities with Cuban colleagues.

Upon their arrival here, Tran Troug Dung said their trip was a consequence of the extensive exchanges between the APV and UPEC, as well as a result of the excellent Cuban-Vietnamese relations, which comprise their respective governments, communist parties, and peoples as well.

In September 2022, a UPEC delegation, led by its president Ricardo Ronquillo, visited Vietnam to exchange views on the models of press management in the two countries, UPEC Vice-President Bolivia Tamara Cruz recalled during the welcoming ceremony.

As part of their schedule in Cuba the APV group met with journalists and executives of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, National Radio and Television, Giron newspaper, TV Yumuri, and Radio 26 station in the western Matanzas province.

They also visited the Fidel Castro Center in Havana, which treasures mementos of the historic leader of the Revolution, laid a wreath at this capital’s Ho Chi Minh City Monument, in downtown Havana, and reveled at Varadero tourist resort. The Vietnamese sojourn reached its peak during the seminar “Vietnam-Cuba: Socialist Press in Transformation,” which featured eight presentations by journalists, managers, and academicians from both nations, who delved on respective experiences in media management.
