Cuban diplomacy chief congratulates Nicaragua’s new Foreign Minister

Havana, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla welcomed the appointment of Nicaragua's new Foreign Minister, Valdrack Jaenstchke, replacing Denis Moncada, who was relieved of his duties for health reasons.

“We congratulate Valdrack Jaenstchke on his appointment as Foreign Minister of Nicaragua,” the head of Cuban diplomacy wrote on X.

Likewise, the Cuban diplomat reaffirmed “Cuba’s commitment to continue strengthening the historic bilateral relations of brotherhood and solidarity.”

“We wish Denis Moncada success in his new functions,” Rodríguez Parrilla added.

The day before, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega appointed Valdrack Ludwing Jaentschke Whitaker, who until then served as minister advisor for policy and international affairs, as head of Foreign Affairs.

Whitaker, a sociologist by profession, also held the positions of minister counselor at the Nicaraguan Embassy in Costa Rica, vice minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicaraguan ambassador to Honduras and Guatemala, plus 15 other positions during the Ortega administration.

In addition, he was advisor in Institutional Development of the Ministry of Defense during the presidential term of late Nicaraguan engineer, businessman and politician Enrique Bolaños (2002-2007).

Moncada will work as Minister Advisor to the President for Policy and International Affairs, according to the Vice President of the Central American country, Rosario Murillo.
