The Government has filed a complaint at the Public Prosecutor’s Office and has also requested the National Customs Directorate to open an investigation.

“If a container should be checked and it is not, there will be an investigation and a summary by the Economy and Customs Ministry,” President Luis Lacalle Pou said.

The Portuguese judicial police had reportedly seized on Tuesday the drug hidden in a container laden with soy flour.

The cargo had left a Paraguayan port and spent several days in transit at the Montevideo port.
