Addressing the opening of the Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (Focac 2024), the president assured that Beijing will promote jointly building hospitals and medical centers.
“We will send two thousand medical workers to Africa and launch 20 programs of health facilities and malaria treatment”, he said.
He also said the country will encourage its enterprises to invest in pharmaceutical production in Africa and will continue to support epidemic response.
Xi referred to the implementation of the Future of Africa-Vocational Education Cooperation Plan program, linked to the establishment of an engineering technology academy and the construction of 10 Luban Workshops (a China-Africa partnership to provide vocational training in support the continent’s industrialization).
“We are going to offer 60 000 training opportunities to Africa, mainly for women and youth, we are going to launch with Africa the Cultural Silk Road program and a cooperation initiative on innovation in radio, television, audio and visual programs”, he said.
He also commented that the two sides agreed to designate 2026 as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
