According to the Provincial Police, the action was perpetrated near the village of Almaa, by detonating an explosive device as an official convoy passed by, including the cars of the Governor, the Secretary of the ruling Baath Party, the Police Commander and managers of the health and education sectors.
The Police said that after the explosion of the bomb, there was a violent clash with light and medium weapons for more than half an hour between the terrorists and security and police officers.
The head of the National Reconciliation Committee in Deraa, Hussein Al-Rifai, told Sham FM that the delegation was on its way back to the provincial capital after inaugurating a hospital and other facilities in rural areas in the eastern part of the province.
Syria has been facing a war imposed since 2011 and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, some attacks occur which Damascus blames groups supported from abroad to further destabilize the country.
