During a meeting of both parties in Havana, Upec President Ricardo Ronquillo and APV Vice President Tran Troug Dung agreed that strengthening ties and expanding the exchange will help them both better report on issues of bilateral significance.
They said that without cooperation among associations that advocate social equality, socially-committed journalists will find it hard to have a say in building just and inclusive societies.
Ronquillo welcome Troug Dung at the Union’s headquarters, one day after the 15-strong Vietnamese delegation arrived in Havana.
The parties traded views on how to adapt to new alternative ways of communicating and informing, brought along by the continued technological changes, as well as by cultural and ideological challenges facing both countries.
They also focused on intellectual property, the relationship between ethics and new technologies, information narrative in cyberspace and editorial management models, among other topics.
On the occasion, the visiting journalists presented their Cuban colleagues with a donation of technological equipment, teaching materials and other products.
