During a speech on Monday on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Nicaraguan Army, the head of state described the people of Simón Bolívar, Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro as heroic and brave. “And we tell you that we are with the Bolivarian people, that we are against the systematic aggressions that have been committed against the Venezuelan people,” Ortega highlighted.
The president affirmed that in Latin America there is a new attack by the US wanting to overthrow governments, simply because [Venezuela] does not submit to it. “We see how they have acted and continue to act the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. They simply say that they do not recognize who the Venezuelan Electoral System and who the Venezuelan judiciary defined is the winner of those elections,” he said.
Ortega added that the opposition candidate had printed papers to mount this type of “brutal campaigns,” and mentioned the recent blackouts caused in Venezuela that affected the people. “The Venezuelans want peace, and the USA wants to turn [the country] into a hellscape simply to steal Venezuela’s oil,” he stressed.
The president recalled that the largest reserves of crude oil in the world are in Venezuela, and that has been the practice of the imperialists and they have killed each other among the empires themselves, disputing countries that were subject as colonies, disputing simply for wealth.
