“The new school year begins today in Cuba, a great celebration throughout the country,” the foreign minister wrote on the social network X.
Rodriguez Parrilla further noted that the new period is a reality “despite the limitations caused by the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the U.S. government” on Cuba.
“A special greeting to the professors and students of the Higher Institute of International Relations, to whom I wish success in this academic year,” he added.
More than 1,600,000 students of the General Education System arrive in the country’s classrooms this Monday, an enrollment similar to that of recent cycles, despite the demographic movement in Cuba during the last few years.
Around 156 thousand teachers and professors are also starting their educational journey, but this figure will grow during the next months, due to strategies adopted to complete the teaching coverage.
Higher Education will begin on September 16 for first year students and in mid-October for students who are continuing their studies.
