Spokesman Lin Jian made these statements while referring to the ninth edition of the Africa-China Cooperation Forum (Focac 2024), scheduled for September 4-6 in this capital.
The spokesman pointed out that the two regions ‘are the backbone of safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, upholding the purposes of the UN Charter, multilateralism and international equity and justice’.
Lin Jian said that maintaining global peace and security, promoting development and prosperity are the common proposals of the two sides.
China and African countries ‘have suffered from the oppression and aggression of colonialism and imperialism, and in their struggle against these forces, they have supported each other and fought together, achieving national independence and the liberation of their peoples,’ he added.
The two sides agreed with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, advocate an egalitarian and orderly multipolar world, an inclusive economic globalization and an international order in a more just and reasonable direction, said the spokesman.
He stressed that China and Africa oppose all forms of authoritarian intervention and economic coercion.
