The center will be situated in the Science Park in Canelones, southern Uruguay, and its opening is scheduled for 2026.
This mega-plant will house the company’s servers, which will process and store data from sites such as YouTube, Gmail, and Google search engine.
It will be the third facility of its kind in Latin America. Along with the one in Chile and another in Brazil, Google will cover the Pacific and Atlantic regions of South America.
Uruguay has taken significant steps both in developing a reliable infrastructure and in training local talent, making it an ideal partner for this project, Google Cloud President for Latin America Eduardo Lopez said.
